The Simpson College Community Orchestra is holding their 10th Anniversary Concert this Sunday. Linda Benoit tells KNIA News there will be a medley of Christmas music being played including African-American folk songs and music from a Russian composer among others. Benoit also said the 10th Anniversary Concert is a significant milestone to show the growth of where the orchestra started.

“I was just one part of getting this orchestra started, and it has grown so much and really has reached a level of playing that is far above where we started. To have the commitment of so many people from the community, we have teachers, former teachers, current members of the Des Moines symphony, high school students, and Simpson College students.”

The concert will be at 7pm in the Pote Theater in the Blank Performing Arts Center on the Simpson College campus, and is free and open to the public, with a reception following. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
