After falling in its season opener on Tuesday, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad will come back home for the first time, while the Panther girls take the court for the first time in ten days against the newest member of the South Central Conference, Cardinal in the home and conference opener. The boys were shredded on defense against PCM on Tuesday and struggled to shoot the ball consistently. Coach Troy Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is all about getting right for his team rather than worrying about what the Comets will bring in tonight.
Pearson: “We’re working on what we need to get better at right up until Christmas. It ‘ll be us working on us and we’ll see what Cardinal has for us on Friday.”
The girls have been standing on a 1-0 record since November 22nd when they defeated PCM in the season opener. Cardinal returns several players from a team that went 5-18 last year in the South East Iowa Super Conference, where they finished near the bottom. Knoxville, while not tall in any one position, did outbound PCM on November 22nd 32-21 and shot the three point ball well at 46%. Live coverage is on kniakrls.com KNIA3 tonight from Knoxville High school at 6:15.
