The Norwalk wrestling team was defeated by Dallas Center-Grimes 44-21 Thursday night in a season-opening Little Hawkeye Conference dual in Norwalk.

The Warriors won five matches against the Mustangs, including first-period pins by Asaiah Martinez-Ruiz at 106 pounds and Maddux Borcherding-Johnson at 285. Norwalk’s Tate Turner (132), Dominic Tigner (160) and Harrison Tripp (220) all won by decision.

The visiting Mustangs won five matches by fall and two major decisions among their nine match victories.

The Warriors’ next meet is the Keith Young Invitational on Saturday at Cedar Falls High School.

WARRIOR BASKETBALL TEAMS HOST PELLA

The Norwalk basketball teams will host Pella tonight in a girl-boy varsity doubleheader starting at 6:15 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on 92.1 KRLS, with pregame coverage beginning at 5:45. The action will also be streamed on the Norwalk Warrior Productions YouTube channel.

The Warrior girls take an 0-1 record into the contest after losing to ADM 66-44 on November 21. Pella is 1-1 following Tuesday’s 73-46 loss to Class 4A fifth-ranked North Polk.

The Warrior boys are playing their first game of the season while the Dutch are 0-1 following a 57-49 home loss to North Polk on Tuesday.

Norwalk’s girl-boy doubleheader at Ballard postponed Tuesday has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 5.
