Two days in a row Pleasantville picked up a State Dance Championship. After claiming a state dance championship in Class 5 Pom Wednesday evening the Trojans added a state title in Novelty Class 11 Thursday in Des Moines
The Novelty state title was an event where Pleasantville dancers were dressed like bumble bees. The Pleasantville performance won one of two Judge’s Routine Awards as well.
The Pleasantville founder of the team was Lois Turnage. She passed away in March.
Pleasantville Dance Instructor Miika Busick tells KNIA.KRLS News how much Turnage meant to the team over the years, “This year at state a lot of our routines were dedicated to her and the impact that she made on so many young women over the years. So, we felt like we had a special angel watching out for us this year.”
According to Busick the team had fun at state while keeping Turnage’s tradition going strong.
