The Norwalk bowling teams both earned dual wins over Ballard on Saturday and the Warrior boys wrestling team placed fourth in tournament action at Cedar Falls.
Highlighted by Andrew Winfrey’s 278 individual game, the Norwalk boys bowling team outscored Ballard 2640-2438 at the Air Lanes Bowling Center in Des Moines. The Warriors improved their team score by 200 pins compared to their season-opening meet. Winfrey led the team with a two-game series of 439, followed by Jaxson Swift with a 378, Michael Wetzel 354, and Ashton Robinson 346.
The Norwalk girls edged Ballard by just five pins, winning 1846-1841. High series scores for the Warriors included Elivia Stout with a 280, Julia Palen 276 and Addy Nielsen 272. Palen rolled the high individual game with a 152.
Both Norwalk bowling teams improved to 1-1 on the season.
The Warrior wrestlers, meanwhile, boasted seven place-winners at the Keith Young Invitational and placed fourth out of 16 teams with 160 points. Don Bosco won the tournament with 216 points, followed by West Des Moines Valley (181) and North Scott (180.5).
Norwalk was led by three individual champions in 106-pounder Tyler Harper, 138-pounder Donovan Card and 285-pounder Maddux Borcherding-Johnson. Harper won all three of his matches, including two pins, Card was 4-0 with two pins and one major decision, and Borcherding-Johnson won all three of his matches by fall. Card defeated Don Bosco’s Myles McMahon 8-7 in the 138-pound championship match.
Also placing for the Warriors were Dominic Tigner (3rd at 160), Asaiah Martinez (4th at 113), Tate Turner (5th at 132) and Kadan Borcherding-Johnson (6th at 152).
