The PCM basketball teams and boys wrestling squad combined to go 4-0 on the night Thursday, as basketball swept Greene County and the wrestling team won both matches of their home triangular against Nevada and West Marshall.
The Mustangs girls basketball teams used lock-down defense to pick up the 40-17 road victory at Greene County, their third road win in four days. The PCM girls held the Rams under double digit scoring in all four quarters, with the most points allowed in a single quarter being six. Addison Steenhoek led all scorers with 11 points and Tori Lindsay wasn’t far behind with 10 points of her own, as the Mustangs improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The PCM boys got back on the right track at Greene County Friday night with a 47-42 win. The win snapped the Mustangs’ three game losing skid and gave them a 1-2 mark on the week. The PCM boys now hold a 2-3 overall record and a 1-2 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play. Both of the Mustangs’ basketball teams get a three-day break before returning to action on Monday with a home non-conference doubleheader vs North Mahaska that can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com.
Back at home, the PCM boys wrestling team dominated their triangular, as eight wrestlers went 2-0 in wins over West Marshall 57-20 and Nevada 66-12. The Mustangs eight wrestlers that won both their matches on the night were Kaliber Fry, Remington Fry, Tucker Wheeler, Hewitt Brinegar, Jeffrey McDanel, William Vanderpool, Wyatt Wheeler, and Kaden Clark. The PCM boys wrestling team is now 6-2 in dual meets and will look to continue their early season success at the Saydel Wrestling Invitational on Saturday.
