The Pleasantville varsity wrestling team won the Tri-County Wrestling Tournament Title Saturday by crowning five champions and scoring 197.5 points along the way.

Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont was runner-up with 182.5 points followed by West Branch in third with 173.5 points in the 11-team field.

Winning titles for the Trojans were Tommy Booth at 106, Caleb Cook at 138, Carter Metcalf 152, Dillen Ammons 182 and Ross Stephens at 195. Four of the five champions were 3-0 for the day. Collecting three pins each on the day for the Trojans were Stephens, Ammons and Cook. Booth only had two matches and both were by fall.

The Trojans will return to the mat Tuesday, December 13th facing AC/GC, Central Decatur and Earlham in a triangular at AC/GC at 5:30 p.m.

Basketball Splits with Lynnville-Sully

The Pleasantville girls’ basketball team topped Lynnville-Sully Saturday on the road winning 42-33 to raise their record to 5-3 overall.

Hope DeMan hit for 19 points to lead the way for the Trojans. Next was Joelle Johnson with six points, Addie Van Ness five, Azell Smith, Emily Hiemstra and Lillian Mason each with four points.

Trojan Coach Jeff Cook credited the defense for playing a strong man-to-man defense and working the ball better offensively.

PHS Boys fall to the Hawks 

The Trojans boys’ team wasn’t as fortunate as they fell to the Lynnville-Sully Hawks 67-39

 Saturday on the road. Dyson Leerhoff had 13  points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

Trojan Coach Taylor Phipps tells KNIA/KRLS News that his team was outscored 31-9 in the middle two quarters.

 The loss drops the Trojans to 1-4 overall. They are currently in a four game skid following an opening night win over Melcher-Dallas.

Both Trojan basketball teams play Tuesday at home against Ogden.
