The Knoxville Wrestling Squad finished runner-up, eight points behind the top JV squad from Southeast Polk at the Panthers’ Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers had six individual champions including ranked wrestler Luke Spaur along with Dane Gullion, Steven McCreery, Chaz Graves, Tristen Sinnard, and Daniel Gorskikh. The Panthers were also wrestling without two guys due to illness. Head Coach Skylar Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he continues to see more buy-in with the younger wrestlers after experiencing some matches and seeing how the hard work is paying off for them.
Spaur: “After they got some matches last week they’ve improved their practice this week. They need to work on speeding up their drilling so they’re ready for a match. But they are getting to know how hard they have to work and what we expect from them.”
The Panthers will host another event on Thursday as they will host an all-South Central Conference quad with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Davis County, and Clarke.
