The Pella City Council approved a committee appointed by Mayor Don DeWaard to help guide the direction of renovating the current Pella Community Center facility on Union Street.
City Administrator Mike Nardini says the group will be tasked with selection of an engineering and design firm, working with that organization for a future use planning study, and to identify potential alternatives to enhance the project.
The firm should be selected in January, and the committee will be working closely with city staff and the council throughout 2023 for planning ahead of anticipated renovation of the Pella Community Center in 2024.
The committee includes seven representatives :
• Dave Hopkins, City Council
• Brenda Huisman, Library Board of Trustees President
• Pati Van Zante, Friends of the Pella Community Center
• Arvin Van Zante, Community Services Board
• Amanda Schwerdtfeger, Community Services Board
• Rhonda Kermode, Historic Preservation Commission
• Mary Robertson, Lead Art Instructor
