Jordan Downing is the Construction Trades Instructor in Knoxville. He and his Knoxville class of nine students are currently working on building a Knoxville family a new home construction project at 502 West Rock Island Street.
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Habitat for Humanity home were held at the site back in October and according to Downing his Knoxville class started working on the home November 13th. Downing tells KNIA/KRLS News this in the 14th home he and his classes have worked on over the years.
The current home is a three bedroom, two bath handicap accessible home with a two stall garage.
With the late start on the home and winter rapidly approaching, Downing said the goal is to get the trusses up for the roof before Christmas break.
Downing tells KNIA/KRLS News the class has built the floors and walls during their first month at the site.
