The Indianola School Board approved an increase in childcare rates for the 2023 summer and 2023-24 school year at their meeting Tuesday, raising rates by 3%. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the district hasn’t raised the prices for a while, and with inflation and the cost of living going up the district had to slightly raise prices.
“I believe it’s been three years since the rate has gone up, and it was a 3% raise approved, which equates to about a dollar a day. The reason for the raise is the cost of everything is going up, making sure we have quality staffing and able to pay that staffing, so again it was just time and hopefully it’s not too much of a hardship on families that use ICC.”
