Despite remaining short-handed as the first portion of the season comes to a close, the Pella boys wrestling team earned another dual win, defeating Oskaloosa on the road 54-21 Thursday night.
After the teams traded wins in the heavier and lighter weight divisions — due to some forfeits as well, the Dutch surged by winning six falls in a row, starting with two-time conference champion Damion Clark (132), continuing with Ben Krogstad (138), Peyton Ritzert (145), Hunter Smith (152), and Jacon De Ruiter (160), and then ending with 2021-22 state qualifier Jackson Van Kley (170). Kieran Van Voorst (195) and Kaiden Hol (220) also earned pinfall wins.
Additionally, Jasey Olsen from the Pella girls team competed and won twice against a pair of Oskaloosa wrestlers by pinfall.
Pella welcomes eight other teams to the Tulip City Saturday for the annual Bill Van Horn invitational.
Matches begin Saturday morning starting at 9:30, with Boone, Davis County, Des Moines North, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, North Mahaska, Norwalk, Oskaloosa, and South Tama all competing.
