The situation in Haiti is as bad as it’s ever been, according to a long-time leader of a non-profit organization based in Pella working on the island nation.
Executive Leader Tim Brand of Many Hands for Haiti says after the assassination of the country’s president in 2021, and following several natural disasters and the impact of global inflation, conditions for many are dire.
Brand says severe hunger and gang violence has increased after the instability caused by the lack of government infrastructure following the killing of the former president.
However, Brand says they still are doing all they can to support those who are living at their campus and in Pignon, the City of Pella’s sister city, and their Haiti-based staff gives him hope that better days are ahead.
