The Indianola wrestling team competed in one of the state’s premier tournaments Friday and Saturday, the Battle of Waterloo where they went 2-1 on day one, securing third place in their initial bracket.

The Indians defeated Bishop Heelan in the quarterfinals 45-28, seeing wins by fall from Bowen Downey at 120lbs, Cael Meacham at 138lbs, Jake Pontier at 145lbs, Carson Slorah at 195lbs, and Jaxon Boyd at heavyweight. In the semifinals, the Indians fell to Ankeny 40-21, with wins by fall from Downey and Ryan Young at 132lbs. In the third place match, the Indians defeated Pleasant Valley 40-22, with wins by Young, Pontier, Carson Cooper at 106lbs, and Downey.

On day two, the Indians faced off against Davenport Assumption, winning 38-26, with wins by fall from Dax Clatt at 170lbs, Logan Turner at 220lbs, and Jensen Dyer at 113lbs. The Indians then matched up with Crestwood where they fell 35-33, with Meacham, Slorah, Boyd, and Isaac Seger at 120lbs winning by fall. In the final match of the day, Indianola wrestled Nashua-Plainfield, and fell in the final match 35-24. Isaac Seger and Cael Meacham won by fall in the match. The Indians will next wrestle Thursday hosting Creston.
