For the second consecutive year, Central College wide receiver Jeff Herbers (senior, Urbandale, Des Moines Christian HS) was tabbed for the Division III Academic All-America® Division III football team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

Herbers was a first-team pick after getting named to the second team a year ago.

It’s the sixth time in the past seven years that the Dutch football team has had a player chosen. Central has now had athletes receive CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition 67 times, including 20 times in football.

Herbers is an actuarial science major with a 3.97 grade point average. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity contributor, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better and have reached sophomore standing.

Also a three-time American Rivers Academic All-Conference honoree, Herbers had 48 receptions for 468 yards and seven touchdowns. He was part of a Dutch offense that ranked second in the NCAA Division III in passing (340.6 yards), eighth in total offense and (489.6 yards) and 14th in scoring offense (41.3 points). Central posted a 7-3 mark.
