The Indianola Police Department was awarded an honorable mention in a grant competition from Aftermath, awarding the department $250,000 for their K9 program. Chief Brian Sher and Captain Rob Hawkins were awarded the check earlier this week, after a voting process in competition with other law enforcement agencies across the nation. Chief Sher tells KNIA News the K9 program will benefit the community in many ways, including community outreach, locating lost individuals, and deterring drug trafficking.
