Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller tells KNIA/KRLS News that it is illegal to dump snow into the city streets.
The only exception is in the cleaning of large commercial drives in the business district, and it is necessary to move the snow onto the streets temporarily. It then must be removed within a reasonably short time.
It’s also illegal to push ice or snow from private property onto the property of another or the right of way located between the sidewalk and the street adjoining another person’s property.
There is a ten dollar ($10.00) fine for dumping snow on city streets.
