Christmas break couldn’t have come at a better time for the Pella Christian girls basketball team, as they have been challenged both on and off the court early in the season.

Through the Eagles’ first eight games of the season, they played three games against teams that were ranked at the time of the contest. Additionally, the Pella Christian girl’s have battled through illnesses and minor injuries during that stretch. Head coach Jordan Dyk knows that the rest of the season will be just as difficult but says the break will be beneficial for his squad.

“We’ve got to get healthy, and I think you’re right. You say it’s a test, it is a test and we’re going to see it in the Little Hawkeye the rest away, so we’ve got to keep working at it.”

The Eagles currently have five more matchups with ranked teams this season. Pella Christian has a pair of conference games left against Class 4A #2 ranked Dallas Center-Grimes and #7 ranked Indianola, and a non-conference home contest with Class 3A #8 ranked Des Moines Christian.
