A major project completed in 2022 by the City of Indianola was the replacement of Boston Ave, with funds from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act. Public Works Director Akhilesh “AP” Pal tells KNIA News the ARPA funds allowed the city to move forward with the project much faster than initially thought.
“It was always on the books, but the ARPA funds came through and helped us prioritize it and finish that project and open up the street. It’s substantially completed, we still have seeding to finish in the springtime, but the project is substantially complete now.”
Pal said the Boston Ave infrastructure had failed before the start, including sewer and water main flooding, so he is glad to see the street reopened.
