A year filled with incredible moments has wrapped up for Pella Christian High School. The year started with the Eagles boys basketball team dominating rival Des Moines Christian in the substate final to qualify for their 16th State Tournament appearance in 32 years.
The spring at Pella Christian followed suit with exciting moments and success. Highlighting that success was Alejo Marcon coming in fifth place as an individual at the State Tennis Tournament, and the Eagles track & field team continuing their storied tradition of success with nine athletes ending their season at the Famous Blue Oval at Drake University.
The summer and fall sports teams at Pella Christian added several notable highlights in 2022 including Emma Eekhoff’s walk-off home run to defeat Pella and the volleyball team posting their best winning percentage since 2016. Rounding out 2022 for the Eagles was some incredible State runs by the football and cross country teams.
An emotional year for the Pella Christian cross country teams highlighted by the phrase “Run for Ryan” culminated in both the cross country teams qualifying for State. Led by Senior Kaden Van Wyngarden’s All-State 8th place finish, the Eagles boys finished 7th as a team at State, while the girls cross country squad came in 10th place in Fort Dodge. The football team wrapped up a memorable year at Pella Christian with a deep postseason run. The Eagles advanced all the way to the Class 1A quarterfinals that included a memorable 38-30 comeback win over South Hamilton.
