The City of Indianola wants to remind residents about city regulations regarding sump pump discharge. As the temperatures drop and the ground begins to freeze, sump pumps may still operate, however the discharge may not be able to be absorbed into the ground leading to possible ice accumulation on sidewalks and streets. City regulations prohibit the discharge of sump pumps any closer than five feet to a property line, street, or alley, and require that property owners remove ice accumulations from abutting sidewalks.
