A woman from Swan was one of 29 people nationwide who won a shot at Powerball’s First Millionaire of the Year drawing. Chris Manuel spent her New Year’s Eve in New York City, where Powerball drew a winner just after midnight. 

While Manuel didn’t win the million dollars, she won the New York trip, which included airfare, three hotel nights, meals, theater tickets, tours and $1,000 in spending money along with a spot at Times Square to bring in the new year.

The winner of the First Millionaire of the New Year was announced on ABC’s Dick Clark New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023. The 2023 winner is from North Carolina.

Powerball is footing the bill for the three-day trip valued at $28,000.
