The Marion County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday for the first organizational meeting of 2023. The board elected a new board chair to preside over meetings as Kisha Jahner will replace Mark Raymie as board president. Steve McCombs was named vice-president of the board. 

It was voted to keep the same meeting dates for 2023, Tuesday at 9 a.m., every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

The board selected officers, approved authorization to sign for official county business and set official meeting dates and times. The board designated an official publication source, the Marion County Express, authorized maximum depository thresholds for county funds, and considered a farm to market resolution that were all approved.

Also approved were Sheriff Department Officer Appointments, Reserve Peace Officer Appointments, County Jail Administrator, Civil Process Administrator, Sheriff Process Jailors and Signing Sheriff Deeds.

They also made numerous appointments for county business, among other matters

Resolution 2023-11: 2023 Central Iowa Regional Housing Authority (CIRHA) appointments, Craig Agan. Resolution 2023-13: 2023 South Central IA Cedar Creek Watershed Management Authority appointments, Steve McCombs.  Appointment: 2023 Marion County Flood Plan Administrator Tyler Christian. All were approved.

Appointments: Marion County Memorial Hall Commissioners – Knoxville was tabled.

Marion County Employee Mileage Reimbursement Rate was approved for 65.5 cents per mile. Appointments: Aging Resources of Central Iowa – Advisory Council – Martha Dykstra was approved.

The Precinct Chair for the Election will be increased to $12 per hour and the Precinct Election Official will receive $10 per hour.
