Twin Cedars will be the final basketball program to get back underway in the second part of the season with a trip to Tri-County tonight. The girls have started off 6-3 on the season. The Sabers have got good play from just about everyone on the team including Kisha Reed, who is 7th in the state in class 1A in total rebounds with 123 and average at 13.7. Tri-County is on an eight game losing streak after winning its season opener over Hillcrest Academy on opening night. The Saber boys will also face a team with just a single win on the season and a Trojans club with one exception, has struggled to score 40 points in any of their games. Sabers Coach Mateo Varese tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they spent the break working on different defenses knowing that they will see some of the teams in the Bluegrass Conference another time.
Varese: “We have a pretty solid number 1 defense we like, we’re trying to put in another defense to give teams more looks. We also want to perfect our craft so we’re ready for the conference tournament and districts.”
Tip off of the girls game is scheduled for 6:00.
