An Automated External Defibrillator or AED was used in an NFL game when Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapsed in a game Monday night.
Rhonda Douglas works with the American Heart Association to teach Knoxville students CPR.
She tells KNIA/KRLS News why she teaches the class, “Back when Obama was President. He issued the Healthy Kids Act, which required all high school graduates to be certified in CPR in order to graduate from high school. That is one of their main requirements.”
According to Douglas, if somebody is needing medical assistance and no AED is available, start CPR until someone can obtain an AED kit.
Douglas added that all Knoxville school buildings have an AED kit, and adds it is easy to use. There is an AED at all Knoxville sporting events.
