The Iowa Legislature begins its session next week, and a long-time local senator in Pella has a new role that could be pivotal with several bills over the next two years.
District 19 State Senator Ken Rozenboom will serve as the chair of the education committee. The Pella Community School District has had leadership from both the Senate and House serve as the education committee chairs, including new Senate President Amy Sinclair and former Representative Dustin Hite.
Rozenboom has served on the Iowa Senate Education Committee since 2017. The leadership role comes as Governor Kim Reynolds is expected to lobby both the Iowa House and Senate for expansion of public funds for private education, a move that Rozenboom strongly supports.
The 2023 legislative session begins on January 9th. Hear more from Rozenboom on Monday’s Let’s Talk Pella.
