The city of Knoxville is offering tax abatements for residential, commercial or industrial new buildings or remodels that improves the value of the structure by a minimum of at least 10 percent.
The tax abatements work as an incentive to improve the community. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery tells KNIA/KRLS News, “The city has a tax abatement program. This is for residential, commercial and industrial development. While the program isn’t new, it is something we are trying to promote better, because it is a great incentive for new construction.”
Ussery said the tax abatement incentive hasn’t been well promoted by the city. The city has put out a flier recently to promote the program better.
