The Pleasantville varsity boys’ basketball has won three games in a row following the holiday break. The latest win came Friday night at home when the Trojans knocked off the Interstate-35 Roadrunners 61-30 in a West Central Activities Conference play.

The Trojans raced to a 30-11 lead at halftime to improve their season record to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the league while I-35 fell to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the WCAC.

Dyson Leerhoff tossed in 21 points and Ryder Thill 11 for the Trojans. Edwin Escalante had seven points late in the game.

Next up for both Trojan teams is a meeting with Earlham Tuesday on the road tipping with the girls game at 6:15.

The Pleasantville girls lost a heartbreaker 49-47 to I-35. The Roadrunners led 41-33 entering the fourth. Pleasantville charged back and hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer, but it was ruled after the buzzer as the Trojans lost the WCAC contest.

Pleasantville had 14 points from Joelle Johnson, 13 from Hope DeMan and 11 by Azell Smith and nine by Emily Roe, but it wasn’t enough

Pleasantville Coach Jeff Cook noted that I-35 was 14-of 20 at the foul line, while the Trojans were 4-of-10 at the charity stripe. Pleasantville is now 5-7 overall and 1-6 in the WCAC.
