TruBank is the title sponsor of the Des Moines Challenge Disc Golf Pro Tour event held annually in Indianola, one of just 20 events held nationwide for professional disc golf athletes. Ben Currie with TruBank tells KNIA News when sponsoring the event, they noticed a disparity in the prize money for the men’s and women’s divisions.

“We had great success, last year was our first year with the event and had great feedback. What we identified was the men’s winner and women’s winner were paid different amounts. In this day and age where we try to find equality in genders, we thought this might be a great opportunity for a locally owned community bank to make an impact. We are going to make sure the women’s winner is paid the same amount as the men this year. Which will be the first tournament in the silver series to do that in the history of the disc golf tour.”

The Des Moines Challenge Disc Golf Pro Tour event is coming back to Indianola in 2023, June 23-25 at Pickard Park.
