The Norwalk boys and girls wrestling teams both competed on Saturday, including the Warrior boys’ third-place finish at Iowa City West’s Tom Lepic Invitational.

Ankeny Centennial won the five-team round-robin tournament with 189.5 points, followed by Pleasant Valley with 173.5, Norwalk 169, Fort Madison 143 and Iowa City West 126.

The Warrior boys had three individual champions and two runner-up wrestlers on the day. Placing first were 8th-ranked Donovan Card at 138 pounds, Dominic Tigner at 152 and top-ranked Maddux Borcherding-Johnson at 285. Card was 5-0 with three pins on the day and Borcherding-Johnson pinned all three of his opponents. Jake McKenzie placed second at 126 and Harrison Tripp was the runner-up at 195.

Six Norwalk girls wrestlers competed in Ogden on Saturday, including four bracket champions in the Silver Tournament. Warrior champions included Mercedes Cunningham at 140, Kamryn McWilliams at 170B, Samantha Bussanmas at 190C and Madeline Benge at 235. Those four girls combined to go 8-1 with six wins by fall.

Norwalk’s next wrestling meet will be a boys home dual against Grinnell on Thursday night.
