A priority for State Representative Brooke Boden this legislative session will be assisting families be better prepared in the event of an emergency. Boden tells KNIA News she wants to help take some of the burden away from the bigger purchases people may need to make.

“I’m working on a bill for emergency preparedness, kind of similar to a school tax free holiday weekend, where you can go in and buy your supplies tax free. This would do the same with emergency preparedness items. So maybe those bigger ticket items that people don’t want to spend on like a new generator or lights, they can take that during that tax free time and be prepared, so we can take that stress off of our first responders community and make sure we are being responsible citizens.”
