Man Charged with Kidnapping and Burglary in Melcher-Dallas Sentenced
An Altoona man arrested in Melcher-Dallas on June 20 has accepted a plea deal.
Fifty-three-year-old Gary Oneal Elmore of Altoona, was initially charged with Burglary First Degree, a Class B Felony, Kidnapping Third Degree, a Class C Felony, Going Armed with Intent, a Class D Felony, Dominion/Control of a Firearm or Weapon by a Domestic Abuse Offender, a Class D Felony, Harassment First Degree and Aggravated Misdemeanor, and two counts of Child Endangerment and Aggravated Misdemeanor.
Elmore has pleaded guilty to three counts of kidnapping 3rd and 1 count of Burglary of 1st degree.
He was sentenced to up to 55 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole until he has served a minimum of 20 years.
The charges stem from an incident on June 20 when Elmore broke into the home of a woman that had a no contact order against him and held her against her will with a .22 caliber rifle.
