The Grand Theater in Knoxville has a roof that is leaking. According to Jocelyn Fee, Executive Director of the theater, there is a fundraiser going on to raise enough money to fix the roof.

The roof needs to be replaced in the spring. Fee tells KNIA/KRLS News it will take around $70,000 to repair. The theater staff has some money set aside and through their fundraiser called “Raise the Roof Special,” another $10,000 has been raised.

Fee tells KNIA/KRLS that when they reach the fundraising goal, what it will help with, “It will just keep this wonderful thing that’s been going in Knoxville now for seven years. We’ve been able to keep the theater open as a non-profit.”

The Raise the Roof Special fundraiser is for those who purchase refreshments at the movie. When customers purchase a Raise the Roof Special, they get two large drinks and a large popcorn. For each special order, $2 goes to Raise the Roof for repairs.

Roughly $50,000 needs to still be raised. Checks can be sent to 212 East Robinson at The Grand Theatre Foundation to help with the fundraiser.
