The Indianola YMCA is looking ahead to 2023, including a focus on programs for kids and families. Executive Director Heather Hulen tells KNIA News one of the most interesting developments over the last nine years has been the growth of the swimming programs.

“We have the high school girls and boys swim here, Simpson College swims here, and the Marlins swim here, and all three teams have larger numbers than before. So it’s really exciting to see how swimming lessons feeds into Marlins, Marlins feeds into high school, and maybe even some Indianola swimmers will go on to swim at Simpson, and even that program is seeing record numbers.”

Hulen also said there is also a larger number of senior participants in their programs, seeing 60-80 people in their exercise classes.
