Indianola City Manager Ben Reeves started the job in May of 2022, after a lengthy hiring process that began in 2021 and concluded in April of 2022. Reeves had 18 years of experience in city administration, including being the City Manager of Santaquin, Utah, and tells KNIA News one of the biggest adjustments was learning Iowa law.
“The biggest issue for me is learning Iowa law. It’s quite different than Utah law in many respects, but I couldn’t have more gratitude towards the city staff. They have been exceptional to help guide me to understand the laws of Iowa to make sure we are compliant in all things, and very transparent as far as how we are interacting with the public.”
Reeves also said he and his family love living in Indianola, and that the community has been welcoming and easy to get along with.
