The Norwalk boys wrestling and boys bowling teams were both victorious on Thursday while the girls bowling team rolled a season-high score in defeat.

The Warrior wrestlers took care of business in a home dual against Grinnell, improving to 4-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference duals and 4-3 overall with a 61-18 win over the Tigers.

Norwalk won eight out of 11 contested matches and also picked up three forfeits. Pins were recorded by Asaiah Martinez-Ruiz at 113 pounds, Aiden Moret at 120, Donovan Card at 138, Kadan Borcherding-Johnson at 145 and Tyler Stanford 182. Borcherding-Johnson notched the fastest pin in just 15 seconds. Card and Martinez-Ruiz won by fall in 21 and 31 seconds, respectively. Tate Turner added a major decision at 132.

Air Lanes Bowling Center in Des Moines was the site of Norwalk’s dual split vs. Clarke. The Warrior boys bowlers defeated a quality Indians team 2784-2607 while Clarke won the girls’ half of the meet 2363-2247. Both Norwalk squads are now 3-4 on the season.

The Norwalk boys were led by senior Emerson Fels, who bowled a high game of 246 and had a two-game series of 442. Jaxson Swift and Tanner Housley both rolled a 369 series and Tyler Peterson had a 349.

The Warrior girls lost by 116 pins despite tallying their best score of the season. Top series scores were rolled by Julia Palen with a 347, Kate Desmond 304 and Elivia Stout 286. Palen’s 190 was the high individual game.

The Norwalk bowling teams will return to action Saturday against Pella Christian at the Dutch 200 Bowl and Grill in Pella at 1:00 p.m. The Warrior boys wrestlers will travel to Ankeny for Saturday’s Bob Sharp Invitational at 10:00 a.m.

BASKETBALL TEAMS AT OSKALOOSA FRIDAY

The Norwalk basketball teams will be in Oskaloosa tonight for a varsity doubleheader. The girls game tips off at 6:15 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:45. The games can be heard live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), with pregame coverage starting at about 6:00 p.m.

The Norwalk girls are 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference following Tuesday’s 56-36 win at Newton. The Osky girls are also 2-4 in conference play and 5-6 overall.

The Warrior boys won at Newton 58-54, improving to 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the LHC. The Indians have just one win on the season, standing 1-9 overall and 0-6 in league play.
