Dozens of residents had the opportunity to provide the first round of public feedback for initial designs drafted for the proposed indoor recreation facility in Pella. A public input session was held Wednesday, led by project designer Shive-Hattery, which featured a presentation of the concepts developed so far and allowed for time to ask questions and for those in attendance to give ideas back to the firm.

Brad Baker is the Sports Market Leader with Shive-Hattery, and has now called this development a “dream” for his team as they tailor a facility to meet the needs of the unique qualities of Pella.

Pella Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan says while initial estimates for cost were discussed last year ahead of the special election for the Local Option Sales and Service Tax, more specific prices will be released late this winter or early spring ahead of the process to acquire bids, especially now that the design firm has feedback from residents.
