melcher-dallas-7

For the second straight day, the Melcher-Dallas Girls basketball Squad coasted to a comfortable win, while the boys had their struggles against Colo-NESCO. The girls slowly built a 14 point lead at halftime and nursed the lead in the second half. Kasyn Reed led the Saints with 14 points and Addi Wadle scored 12. Both told KNIA Sports shots were falling against Colo-NESCO, something that has not happened a lot this season.

Addi: “Pretty rough game, but we played better defense today, and got the win.
Kasyn: “I’d say we made a lot more shots today than last night, and we played better defense too.”

The Melcher-Dallas boys fell to Colo-NESCO 68-54. The Saints and Royals were tied at nine late in the first quarter, but Colo-NESCO closed the first half on a 29-6 run to take control. Owen Suntken scored 20 of his 26 points in the 2nd half. He and Chase Ripperger told KNIA Sports the 2nd half was overall better, but they were unable to make up a 19 point deficit in the 2nd half.

Owen: “I wasn’t playing my game in the 1st half, wasn’t crashing the boards. I went out in the 2nd half with a fire lit under me but still came up short.”
Chase: “I was struggling and just couldn’t get into a rhythm all game, and they got the best of us,”

The Saints head back to Bluegrass Conference play with a make up double header on Monday at Diagonal.
