The Iowa National Guard is holding a Civic Leader Event in Knoxville at the Armory tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon.

This event is for employers and local leaders. A Civic Leader Event gives local leaders the opportunity to experience the professionalism and expertise of the Iowa National Guard members. Individuals who participate in this event will walk away with an understanding of the Iowa National Guard, the skill they have in our state and a clearer understanding of the skills learned through the military training of Guard members. 

David M. Mitchell, a retired captain with the Iowa National Guard, tells KNIA/KRLS News about the event “This is actually a Civic Leader event. What we are trying to do is get more people some awareness on what the National Guard Reserve does in your corner of the state.”

Mitchell added, a Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook Helicopter are scheduled to be at the event
