Knoxville was able to raise over $48,000 to help in the fight against cancer last year in the Panthers vs Cancer event. In addition to the varsity basketball games which will be played against the Chariton Chargers Saturday, January 21, there is a whole lot more to the event in Knoxville.

There will be alumni basketball games starting at 9 a.m. According to Tyler Pearson, the alumni games are expected to go until 1 p.m. Pearson noted the number of alumni games is down this year. There will be four alumni games this year.

Pearson adds, “So every year we try to do some alumni games for, just getting some community members back here at the high school.”

There will also be a silent auction which will be held Saturday all day in the Knoxville Middle School Commons. Just a few of the many items for the auction include some autographed items from Iowa State, UNI and Iowa. Knoxville Recreation Center has items to bid on as well as Blank Park Zoo and much more.

The varsity basketball games against Chariton will start at 6:15 p.m. starting with the girls game.
