Pleasantville will be holding their cancer awareness event at the high school Friday, Jan 20 when the Trojans play host to Des Moines Christian in a girl-boy basketball doubleheader starting at 6:15 p.m.

There will be a free will donation pork dinner that night, and a quilt will be auctioned off during the game. A silent auction will be held, and the Pleasantville student council will be selling pink cotton candy. There will be some homemade pies and gift cards available for the fundraiser. There will also be an elementary coloring contest and a pork dinner.

Erin Cook, co-student council representative, helps head up the Pleasantville Cancer Crusher festivities. Cook tells KNIA/KRLS News, “We will just be collecting donations as well. In the past, I believe last year we raised about $8,000.”

The Trojans will be wearing special uniforms trimmed in pink. The uniforms are courtesy from the Robert Friday family in honor of his wife, Kim, who has passed away.
