The Indianola girls basketball team needed late-game heroics to pull off the victory Tuesday night on the road at Oskaloosa 51-50, while the Indianola boys used a strong second half to pull away to complete the sweep 67-44.

The Indians girls won the first quarter leading 12-8, but quickly saw Osky grow their lead over the next two quarters as Indianola trailed 26-20 at halftime then 40-32 going into the fourth. As it looked like Osky was pulling away with a double digit lead, Indianola would slowly crawl back with Emily Naughton hitting three three-point buckets in the quarter to get back within two points with 10 seconds to go.

Naughton led Indianola with 22 points, while Belt had 11, all in the second half.

The Indians boys were ice cold from the field in the first half as they struggled to pull away from a one-win Oskaloosa team, and watched a comfortable 18-12 first quarter lead slip away in the second as Osky took a brief lead at 29-28, but Indianola would get the lead at half 30-29. The defense clamped down for Indianola in the second half however, giving up just five third quarter points and outscoring Osky 37-15 in the half. Brayden Drea led five Indianola double-figure scorers with 16 points.

The girls are now 8-8 overall and 6-3 in conference play, while the boys are 14-1 and 9-0. Both teams next play Friday at Norwalk.
