A balanced approach on the offensive end of the floor has the Pella Christian boys basketball team among the Little Hawkeye Conference leaders in several statistical categories.
The Eagles, who have been led in scoring by six different players through 15 games this season, are second in the league in points per game and field goal percentage. Pella Christian is averaging 58.7 points per contest and shooting 40.9% from the field, with only Class 4A’s #5 ranked Indianola posting higher marks. Helping bolster those numbers for the Eagles, is the well-rounded nature of their offense. In their last five games, Pella Christian has been led in scoring by four different players and head coach J.D. Boer believes it’s one of the great things about his squad.
“Teams are defending and us differently with some of the ways that some of our guards have been playing. But what I love about this team is that it doesn’t matter who’s scoring the basketball, you know, because we have different guys who can do it. Some nights it’s Dane Geetings, some nights it’s Aiden Stoltz, Tyson DeVries, Lincoln Vander Molen, Josiah (Vos), Isaiah (Breems). You know, there’s so many different guys that have led us in scoring at one point or another this year, and I love that, and I love that about this team.”
The Eagles will look to use that balanced offensive attack to pick up a win on homecoming against the Grinnell Tigers Friday night on Eagle Lane.
