Through the first four events of the men’s heptathlon at the Dutch Winter Multi Meet Thursday, Central College men’s track and field junior Brody Klein (Rainier, Wash.) leads the field of 10 competitors from four colleges that includes Simpson.
Klein’s 2,699 points are good for a share of the lead alongside William Penn University’s Justin Moeller. Reid Pakkebier (sophomore, Cedar Rapids, Kennedy HS) and Jaxon Thompson (junior, Marion, Linn-Mar HS) are at third and fourth with 2,625 and 2,588 points, respectively. Central’s fourth entry, Lucas Heitz (senior, Adel, ADM HS) is sixth with 2,456 points.
Ulysses Patterson leads the two Storm athletes in the competition following the first day of the event. Patterson sits in fifth place with 2549 points, while teammate Clarke Latcham is in seventh place at 2436 points.
Day two of the meet continues at 4 p.m. Friday.
