The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad is set to play for a conference championship, while the Panther girls are looking to recover from a disappointing loss on Tuesday. The boys will battle Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont tonight with the winning team clinching no worse than a share of the South Central Conference title. The Panthers already have a win over the Rockets this season back on January 3rd when they won 63-57. In that game the Panthers forced Eddyville into 22 turnovers. Knoxville post player Jack Bertrand tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he expects a difficult game, but he knows he and his teammates are ready for the challenge.

Bertrand: “They’re a good team and it’s going to be tough. I know they’re not happy about what happened at home. It’s just another challenge, we expect adversity and we’re up for the challenge.”

The girls will try to do something tonight that 16 previous teams have failed to do to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, and that is to win. The Rockets are unbeaten overall ranked #4 in class 2A. While Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont has long since clinched the conference title, Knoxville does have the chance to ruin a perfect season in conference and overall. Live coverage tonight is on 95.3 KNIA starting with the pregame at 5:45 and the girls tip at 6:00.
