Melcher-Dallas Basketball Squads had two chances to bring home 3rd place in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament on Saturday, and neither to take advantage as the girls lost to Diagonal 61-48 and the boys fell to Ankeny Christian 55-53 in overtime. The girls were balanced with Addi Wadle and Paetyn Anderson scoring 11 points and Gabby Overgaard and Maddy DeJong getting ten, but Coach Kelsey Goff told KNIA Sports her team did not shoot well and got back into the habit of turning the ball over. The boys had ACA down by three with just over :30 seconds to play, and allowed the Eagles to tie it with a three to force overtime. In the extra session, the Saints had five looks at the basket in the last seconds of overtime but could not force a second 4:00. Owen Suntken scored 26 points to lead Melcher-Dallas. Both teams will begin a busy week of basketball traveling to Tri-County on Monday.
