The PCM boys wrestling team came up one victory short of advancing in the Class 2A Regional Team Duals, falling to Davenport Assumption 37-30.
After falling behind 16-5 after the first four matches, the Mustangs bounced back to win four of the next five bouts but still trailed 22-18. PCM and Assumption split the next four matches, as the Mustangs pulled within one at 31-30 with one match remaining on the night. In that final match at 106 pounds, the Knights got a pin to down PCM 37-30.
PCM won two matches via fall, three via decision, and one apiece via major decision and technical fall in the Regional Team Dual. The six-point pins came Nate Richards at 195 pounds and Kaden Clark at 285 pounds. Zach Richards at 120 pounds scored five points with a technical fall, and William Vanderpool scored four points at 160 pounds with his major decision. The three-point decision victories came from Tucker Wheeler (138 lbs.), Hewitt Brinegar (152 lbs.), and Wyatt Wheeler (170 lbs.).
PCM ends the team dual season with a 13-5 record, and next compete on February 11th in their individual state qualifying meet at Ballard High School.
