Indianola Middle School held a career fair for 8th grade students Thursday, inviting different career cluster categories to represent their area of expertise such as engineering, security, and others including KNIA Radio.
Counselor Lacey Cherniss tells KNIA News the goal of the career fair is to allow the students to have the most information possible as to narrow how they would like to continue education both at the high school and possibly the college level.
“The biggest thing is they are able to apply, make that connection between school and the world of work. So why is it I am sitting in math class every day? And they are really able to see that. They are able to see their future a little bit more, the steps they can take to reach their goals. And it becomes as they go to high school a little bit more applicable to their lives.”
