Stepping Stones is working on a program to bring the older generation into working with children. The program is called AmeriCorps, the program is for those 55+ to serve as foster grandparents with the students aged 3 to 5.
Kamryn Ryan who helps with the program tells KNIA/KRLS News what Stepping Stones is looking forward, “We are recruiting for volunteers to join the Americorps Senior Progrram.”
The program is for people 55+ to volunteer in the classroom to work one on one with the children. It could be playing games with them, help with reading, learn to write. The purpose of the program is to bring the older generation with the younger kids. They will be volunteering to help the teacher.
