There are several ongoing and upcoming activities at the Pella Public Library in February and as the spring approaches. Youth Services Librarian Katie Dreyer says they have several special one-time events and ongoing programs. Among those coming up (click here for their full calendar):

Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz is visiting on Saturday, February 11 at 10:15 in the Library Meeting Room. The program will be geared toward children. Dreyer will lead participants in a simple craft after the program is finished. Registration is suggested for planning purposes.

The Pella Community Art Center and Pella Public Library have hidden hearts in business and city buildings in and near the downtown area. Hearts will be in windows until the end of the month of February.

A seed swap will be held that is open to the public from 10:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, February 25th. A collection of seed varieties includes vegetables and herbs, flowers, and native prairie species, as well as perennial and pollinator-friendly selections. Each adult attendee can choose up to five free packets of seed and children (12 and under) can pick two for themselves. There will be local gardening mentors on site as well.
